The Consulate General of Ireland in Munich collaborates with Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität on a public guest lecture from visiting professor Dr Michael Potterton of Maynooth University. This lecture explores contacts between Ireland and the German-speaking world in the Middle Ages, with particular attention to Bavaria. It examines how Irish monks, scholars and pilgrims travelled across Europe from the early Middle Ages onwards, contributing to networks of learning, religion and cultural exchange. A reception will follow, allowing an opportunity for networking and further discussion.
